My husband and I love Christmas so that is when we decided to marry, December 23. He was a poor preaching student at a School of Preaching. I was in the Air Force.
I could afford his ring, the cakes and a simple bouquet. A dress was out of reach financially. I did not know what to do. Then two days before the wedding a box came to the Post Office. In it was the dress my sister-in-law wore. Four years earlier I had asked if I could wear it while she was in the reception line of her own wedding,l.
I had forgotten, but she had not.

Even though I am now divorced, I remember my wedding like it was yesterday.
My colors were lavender and blue. When pictures were taken, the trees had lavender buds on them. We were married in Spring. The weather was perfect. We had a wonderful ceremony and reception.
All the months of planning….And, in a few hours it is all over.
If only things would’ve turned out different as the years went by……

I haven’t been to very many weddings. Our wedding was done with very little time to plan. Got preacher on a Friday night to say he could do it on Sunday. Ordered Cake on Sat, friend found me a dress on Sat, another friend made the flowers. And we got married on Sunday.

I love weddings, and the individuality of each one. The personal touches that mean something special to the couple are the best! I loved our wedding and those of our sons, nephews, nieces. It’s a family time to share in one of their happiest days! ❀

My favorite wedding of course was mine. It was a small church wedding that took place in 1969. We celebrated our 47 th anniversary on August the 19th . My husband likes to tell people that he imported me. He met me in Canada . It was a long distance realationship. He proposed and we begin preparations for me to move to the US legally. Before I knew it I was standing with my husband and the best man and maid of honor being married by a pastor in a very charming wedding chapel in Fort Thomas Ky. It was a very exciting time for me with many big changes. New husband, new home and new country.
47 years later we’re still together and we remain best friends always!

    My husband and I have 3 daughters , all their weddings were special . But, my youngest’s wedding was my favorite . You see she was married the first time to a young man who was raised differently from her . After six years of an abusive ,disastrous marriage she finally gave up and came home . A few years later she married the boy she grew up next door to . On their wedding day they were the most happy and in love people I have ever seen. My baby girl was so serene and glowing that day ;
she had finally found her soul mate . My tears that day were from joy and happiness . GOD had blessed our family with a godly , loving mate for this precious child of ours.

Right before I walked down the aisle I told my sister (maid of honor) that I needed a peppermint. She said “here take mine”, popped hers out of her mouth, into mine, and went down the aisle before me. I walked down the aisle smiling! Such fond memories of a blessed day. And, thanks for the opportunity to win!

My wedding was 10 min long lol. My husband being a catholic. Me nothing. I went through all the classes to be able to marry him :). I got to know God. Then the last thing was meeting all parents: My father and and mother come out of room and my Father said to my husband I believe you are in big trouble. We walk in and the Priest slammed his fist on his desked and yelled out us. He found out we was living together in a new home we just got.
Joe asked his Father for his blessing if we could live together. He gave a ok. I was scared. I didn’t understand their way of Church.
My father in law said your fine Tammy. I have been bless to marry someone that goes to a church. Never missed churched.
Became a Catholic when our second child was 3. I love how I was bless to know God and have this wonderful husband for 35 years
We had a child to rest ( stillborn) if I did not know this faith. I don’t think I could get through it.
10 min wedding ( their wedding is hour long) I think God thought

  51. Linda Golubski
    Jan 3, 2017

Great wedding photo! You haven’t changed a bit. My most memorable wedding”s” were the year that three of my four daughters were married. That’s right three weddings where I did the cooking in one year! Thank goodness I was younger. Now they have been married 17 years this year!

  52. Phyllis S
    Jan 3, 2017

My wedding, of course, is my favorite. In June of 1957, after 6-1/2 years of dating, we finally made it to the altar. He was in the Navy at the time and almost didn’t make it home for the ceremony. Not because of war…oh, no…because he was pitching for the base team and they were winning in the tournaments. I didn’t think it was OK until he finally got home and I knew we were going to be together, at last, for 53 years until cancer took him to his final Home.

Our youngest son and wife chose to be married at the farm my dad grew up on. It was a lot of work getting the place cleaned up and the barn wedding ready. But what a fun day. My dad and all his siblings were there and had a wonderful time. This was 10 years ago and it is still a fun memory.

I would love to read your giveaway. I’ve never been married, but I do enjoy so much Amish Weddings. My eyesight is gradually getting a little better little by little, but I still praise the Lord for it. So I have started reading a little some every day. Thank you for not only being a great author, but a wonderful lady trying to live for God. Thank you for the opportunity of the giveaway.

  60. Ariane Crabtree
    Jan 3, 2017

I would love to win a set of your Amish books. I so love to read the Amish stories and have so much admiration for their choices in life. My favorite wedding was my own. It happened 52 years ago in a small Nevada chapel. I was so nervous I came out without my shoes on and the wedding went on. It didn’t help that the very elderly pastor shook the book terribly.
Thanks for the opportunity to win a set of your books.

  61. Paula
    Jan 3, 2017

My own wedding on June 28, 1969. My husband was in the Navy and we were waiting for his orders. So we finally picked a date and asked my uncle to officiate. The next week he came back to officiate at his own son’s wedding. We ended up going to Florida for his first duty station. We did the wedding on a shoestring because my parents were busy renovating their house. My sister DID crash through a patio door because she wasn’t used to the house they were renting. Oh and I also had mononucleosis and was trying to sew my wedding dress when my sewing machine broke down and I had to borrow 2 machines to get it finished.
We will celebrate 48 years this summer.
Our daughter’s wedding was memorable, too. The florist got lost and never made it to the church! My sister grabbed some artificial flowers that were decorating the church basement and made impromptu bouquets for the wedding party!

  62. Ola Daniel
    Jan 3, 2017

My daughter’s wedding was everything they wanted it to be and more. And now they have just welcomed their third child into the family. Their love for each other continues to grow.

  63. Judy Tulloch
    Jan 3, 2017

My favorite wedding was my mom and step- dad”s wedding. It was small, service and reception held at my uncles. I was a junior bridesmaid. It was shortly after he was discharged from the Army after the Korean War.

We were married there with his Sister and family and to this day there is a lock on the fence that is ours and others have started adding their own on the fence that overlooks the gorge there. In the distance you can see Oneida Lake in NY.

I like to think of the wedding of my parents. No fancy ceremony, no big reception, just two people pledging their lives together with true love. They were blessed to have 57 years together until my father’s passing in 2012.

  77. Deana Dick
    Jan 4, 2017

My favorite is when my hubby and I remarried after being divorced for a year and a half. We were married for thirteen years. My hubby stood for our marriage and our two dons walked me down the aisle to remarry their dad. We have been married for 33 years now and a year after we remarried we had another child. We call her our restoration baby. We named her Destiny.

My loving husband and I will be married 39 years in June. We met in high school when I was just 15, but we didn’t date as our lifestyles were very different. At age 23, I met my Lord and Savior and then re-met Larry, who also met his Lord and Savior. Now we had a very in common lifestyle. I love the simple style weddings. My niece had her wedding outside country feeling all guest picked up a handkerchief on the way to their seat. It was a short lovely ceremony. After we all gathered and just enjoyed family and friends celelbrating the coming together of Gods union. It’s amazing to watch Gods plan coming together and know that when you have faith it all works out for the better good.

Our friends were caretakers of a privately owned lake and our daughter was given permission to have her wedding there. It was a small wedding and the bridal couple and minister stood on a dock as we observed the ceremony. It was also a morning wedding and we watched as the day began and their lives together was started!
Thanks for sharing this giveaway and congratulations on this new book.
    Blessings!

The most memorable wedding I was ever at was a friend of ours sons. It was by the lake and the ceremony lasted two minutes. The grooms mom said ,” you didn’t give me time to cry” at the end of it.

I would have to say that my daughter’s wedding was my favorite wedding memory. She was the epitome of the ideal bride (no favoritism). She was agreeable on everything, no conflicts whatsoever until her maid of honor began exhibiting some inappropriate behavior on social media. Being the solid Christian woman she had grown into, she very politely replaced her as her maid of honor. Standing up for her Christian values spoke volumes to me, thus being my most heartfelt wedding memory.

Even though the marriage didn’t survive past 7 years, my favorite wedding was my own, back in March of 1982. It was an outdoor backyard wedding at our rental house. I loved my gown and the simple bridesmaids dresses and flowers. We held the ceremony in front of our Koi pond. All in all, it was a beautiful day!

My two favorite weddings were the ones I helped my daughters Kristin and Kelli plan. And now I’m having fun encouraging other mothers of the bride as they help plan their daughters’ weddings – with my book Mother of the Bride: Refreshment and Wisdom for the Mother of the Bride. Weddings are such times of great joy. True highlights of our lives!

My first husband and I eloped, getting married at a courthouse. That didn’t last long. My second husband and I were married at my sister’s house in front of their fireplace. That was Sept 1981 and we are still together….so guess the 2nd one would be my favorite.

My husband and I did a quick wedding ceremony in the minister’s living room. Took longer to get to her home than then ceremony itself. About a year later we did a bigger ceremony and reception for family and friends. It was completely unnecessary. 14 years later I wish we would have saved our money and not done it.

I loved my wedding. A funny story was that my husband was so nervous and was supposed to be kneeling at the altar but instead kneeled and was leaning back on his feet so that I was a foot taller than him. The guests in the front row whispered “oh, poor thing was in the Viet Nam war and must have an injury that’s why he can’t kneel”.

My favorite wedding was three years ago when I married my best friend that has helped me heal from all the brokenness from a previous abusive marriage. We didn’t have much so we went to church that Sunday and were married afterwards with just us, the pastor and his wife. We didn’t have money to eat out so we made peanut butter sandwiches and apples and came to the house the two of us were building and ate on the floor and then worked. It was special to us. Thank you for the chance.

I would love to win any of your books. I always read, review, post it on amazon and good reads and my blog, and then I donate books to a very small library my Mom volunteers at in Linden Iowa. I just went to a wedding for my friend Christina Pope and her husband, John Micallef, which is her last name now. When they said you can kiss your bride he dipped while kissing her almost to the floor! Wow!
If you would like to donate any books to the library let me know and I’ll give you the Library’s address. Mom grew up in an area in Michigan where a large group of Amish lived, so she loves to read about them as do I. I see them often when I visit my Grandmother. The library has a very small budget and my Mom said I’ve donated about 400 books in the last five years!

The favorite part of my wedding was the low cost. We had a lot of friends that did things for free or the cost of a room when they arrived. My dad’s church had decorated fancy umbrellas that formed a canopy for me as I walked the sidewalk at the park we married at. Very pretty. I wore a traditional wedding dress for the ceremony and an African dress for reception. We had American food for rehearsal dinner and then African food for the reception. Very exciting times. Congrats on the new release. Definitely added to my to-be-read pile.

It was so cool to see a wedding from a culture completely different than my own. We got to participate in the reception. They had a foot washing ceremony as part of their vows and it was beautiful! I had never seen anything like it before πŸ™‚ Also, her sister (my older cousin) sang her favorite song and did a fantastic job. Best wedding I’ve ever seen, not an eye was dry by the end of it!

Weddings are wonderful but I would like to share a story about my Mom and her husband’s second marriage. They were both widowed when they met and married in a beautiful setting. At my wedding, I loved that we were able to incorporate so many of our friends and relatives into the ceremony–photos, special music, a friend who did the “who gives” part so my dad could give me away AND marry me. Funny story about that last bit, though. Our friend was so nervous, he thought he’d misspoke and “corrected” himself to ask “Who gives this woman to be this man’s husband?”

    Jan 11, 2017

Before I go to married a friend of our family told me to make sure to stand back in a corner and just gaze at the happenings. Take it in and remember. I have always remembered her telling me that. I tried to do this at my wedding. It’s the only wedding I’ve ever been to where Chinese food was served! It was a great day 10 years ago last August! Everyone said it was “so us!”
