Leslie, I love Lilacs, they smell so so good when they’re in bloom, and when you cut a bunch and bring them in the house, it smells good. I would love to get a copy of your free books. Reading is one of my favorite relaxation.

      Leslie,
I love irises. My favorite color is purple and I love the different color varieties that are available. We live in Colorado where it is hot and dry so my iris are always a welcome sight with their pretty colors. Thanks for doing this. I love to read and enjoy your newsletter very much.

Hi, Ruth! It’s so nice to see your post here! I love irises too–I have a bunch out of my front door that I don’t divide like I should but they seem pretty healthy. I think of you often. :)

It’s so hard to choose just one favorite. Spring is my favorite season along with the crocuses breaking forth through the snow, as well as grape hyacinths. Come summer I love irises and tiger and Asian lilies, as well as purple cones flowers. Fall is my second favorite season with all the beautiful autumn colors including mums and marigolds. I look forward to your new book. Thank you fro a chance to win.

It’s hard to decide on one favorite – I think I like mixed wildflowers more that one particular plant. That’s what I had for my wedding bouquet – wild flowers and herb flowers grown by my best friend.

      Leslie,
My favorite flower is a pansy. They just make you smile. There are different colors and all of them are beauties. I have been collecting different china with pansies on them, that is how much I love them.
I would love to have one of your books and to win it too would be that would be extra special.
Reading is a diversion for me. I am a Pastor’s Wife. Often times it is nice to just sit and relax with a good Christian book.

Not sure if this is the place to leave my comment, but here goes. I have many favorite flowers, but alstroemerias are a real contender for most favorite! Why? Because they come in so many wonderful colors, and because they are so long-lasting. Not to mention that my first acquaintance with them was they were a part of my wedding flowers, so they are special to both my husband and me!

I love Poinsettias. I love the brightness of the red leaves, and the hardiness of the plant. I have several growing beside my house that were originally purchased for Christmas decorations, but they refused to die. They press on, as I endeavor to do as well.

I love lilacs because they remind me of my childhood. As a young girl, my mother and I would make homemade “May Day” baskets filled with goodies that we’d made together and topped off with the sweet smelling blooms from the large bush in our shady backyard. We would make cards together and I would drop these flower-filled baskets off, one by one, to each home on our street. It became a tradition that lasted over 20 years!

Hi Leslie, I am new to your page and I look forward to your newsletters. I can’t wait to read one of your books as I love reading Amish books. My favorite flower is the Amaryllis. It was my Mom’s as well-she passed away last October at 102 years old. She would buy them every Christmas and we would watch every day for those buds to pop open to brilliant red, pinks and mixed. I’m watching one bloom out right now!

Thank you for offering such a great giveaway!! I love all flowers so it’s hard to pick just one. My top 2 flowers are Roses and Carnations, they both bring back good memories of my childhood. My grandma used to have beautiful pink carnations that had the wonderful spicy scent to them and then my mom had a large rose garden (25+) and I remember helping her work in it and then being able to pick out the roses to cut for the vase on the table…that was always a special thing she let each of us kids take turns doing! Thanks again for the giveaway! Have a great weekend! :)

Mountain Hydrangea…. My grandmother had these going down her driveway when she lived in Jocassee Valley. She lived on a dirt road, across from Whitewater River. (outhouse and all!).My dad was in the Army and when we were state side we always visited and stayed there when we were kids. She would cut a few off wrap them in wet paper and send them home for us. one for each of the girls (at that time there were 4. We are now 9. 7 girls 2 boys). I will always associate the flowers with some of the best times I had in my youth. And I still love them today.

I can’t choose just one favorite flower, I have favorites for every season and many reasons. Like right now my favorite is Primroses, our local grocery gets little pots of bright color in for January and February and since I live in northern Montana we are right in the middle of winter with 2 or 3 months left to go, those little flowers are just what we need…. In early spring Daffodils will be my favorites, then wild Trilliums, wild Lady Slippers, Irises, wild Dog-toothed Violets, Lilacs, Columbines, wild and domestic Roses, pansies, wild Indian Paint Brush, wild Sego Lillies….. and it goes on….

I love the smell of hyacinths and lily of the valley. I love the look of tulips, so those three would be my favorites!

My love for flowers came from my Dad. He filled our small city yard with roses that he cared for as tenderly as if they were people. Our yard was always beautiful. During his last years of life, Dad began loosing his sight. Despite hardly being able to see, he still made his way out to his roses, and somehow cared for them thorns and all.

    Leslie,
I love all sorts of flowers. I love watching the beauty God puts into each rose and after a spring rain watching how the raindrops create beautiful pearls to add to the beauty of a rose. I also enjoy the wild flowers that grow where everything seems messy, in the tall grasses or along a path. There is beauty everywhere I would have to say the I definitely look for the jonquils and the variety of daffodils that bloom as no two blooms are a like. Spring is like living in a forever changing painting. I love spring. Thank you for writing and sharing your gift with others. Blessings!

I support the beauty of the Gladiolus. The ones found in most tall funeral arrangement baskets. Most people associate them with death and grief. I on the other hand associate them with life and living. If you take one of the cuttings out of the funeral basket, take it home and put it in a vase of water you can watch the miracle begin. Once the lower flower is spent and dies off, look to the top of the stem…there is most often (I have found), a new blossom just opening. Pretty cool for a dead flower. From life to death to life again. God’s pretty amazing once you think about all he can do…even for a DEAD flower. Thanks for letting me ramble on. Have a great and blessed day.

This is beautiful! I have fond memories of planting glads with my father, who was an avid gardener. And I have glads planted in my garden now. It’s so wonderful to get a new crop of blooms in late summer. I love your metaphor! Thank you for rambling on!

This is probably the most difficult question for. I can’t choose which flower is my favorite. On the beginning of the spring it is crocus-the first announcement that spring is coming. Later it is daffodils. Followed by Lilly-of-the valley. Which has amaZing smell to it. Next of course is lilacs. Followed by short lived but wonderful peonies. Next spring and Summer brings us roses which stay with us until late fall. How can I choose between all this wonderful flowers. They all the best. Bringing their own character and beauty to us. I can choose. I love them all.
Thank you very much for opportunity. Would love to win the book.

While I have always loved roses and have several rose bushes, the pansy has become my favorite. A few years ago I had pansies in a large pot sitting in the rock in front of our house. A couple years later I noticed a pansy had grown up through the rocks. It really spoke to my heart, causing me to reflect on how in our spiritual walk, we often have to push through the rocks to reach the fresh air and sonshine. I really relate to the pansy.

I love all kinds of flowers, but roses are probably my favorite, especially ones that don’t have a strong scent (because of allergies). Roses come in all kinds of beautiful colors. We would ALL love to win of course :-) but I’m hoping for the basket because I keep a basket of hard candies in the choir room to encourage people to not use the stuff I’m allergic to worst (mint/menthol/synthetic cinnamon), and the handles have broken off two baskets already – one of which was supposed to be a loaner from a friend (oops). We have sweetgrass down here in Charleston, but who could beat an Amish basket? I mean really… ;-)

Dahlias, Water Lillies, Fuschia, Bleeding Heart, Snapdragons, Crown vetch, Forget-Me-Nots, Angelonia,Pinks, Phlox..wildflowers! My Mom has always had many flower gardens, yet the more popular choices for favorite flowers never appealed to me. I love the tiny, delicate flowers that are not usually noticed..:) My favorite Dahlia hues are sunshiny yellow and snowy white. Some of my best memories are of being out in the garden with my Mom or taking nature walks and collecting/sketching wildflowers. Now I have my own flower bed.. Thank you for the opportunity to share!

I probably have at least 3 favorites… tulips, hydrangeas, and hyacinths. When I was a Candy Striper in my teens, my favorite job was delivering the flowers. I fell in love with the wonderful aroma of hyacinths at that time! My daughter and I both love hydrangeas and for her wedding 3 1/2 weeks ago, pink hydrangeas were the flower of choice. :-) And tulips I’ve just always loved. Btw, I really enjoyed your books with Mindy Starns Clark! Your others are on my TBR list! :-)

Trying to select a favorite flower is really a hard thing to do. Spring is such a beautiful season…the earth mis awakening with new growth, new aromas for our noses to enjoy and our eyes to witness the blossoming of new buds waiting to burst with colors. So with that being said……Roses!! They have such beauty…and rich texture in each petal…and the fragrance….well who can truly define that! Second…for me is the Iris…..breathtakingly beautiful with all the hues of colors. But, I love all flowers.

Thank you so much for the giveaway and for giving us this wonderful opportunity to enter this contest. It is so greatly appreciated. It’s always wonderful to read a good book! I love pansies. They are just so beautiful. They were my mother’s favorite also, and every time I see pansies I think of my mother. She has been gone now 12 years, and I still miss her so very much! But the beauty of this little flower shines through and makes you feel one with the softness and the color of it. Spring time is wonderful, and I know many of us in the snow belt are certainly more than ready for our flowers to come out and to enjoy them. Thanks again. And I hope you have many more successful years writing.

I like all flowers. I think my favorite is probably a rose, but my favorite garden flower is lantana because it attracts the butterflies so well. I love having an assortment in my yard. All colors and all shades. And now I’m thinking daisey’s might be my favorite. Is it okay to have more than one?

Thank you for the opportunity to win! :)

Once upon a time, roses were my favorite flower, but now I’m not so sure…. Love to see the very few crocuses we have come up, even as the snow is melting in the spring. But maybe lilacs have become my favorite. A former neighbor planted some where our property lines meet, and it’s fun to watch them blossom and enjoy their scent. They’re all purple ones, which remind me of my mom because her favorite color was purple…

    Blessings!

      Melanie,
I have a lilac bush in my backyard that came from my parents’ acreage years ago. I’m so happy to have it. It makes me think of them and the color and the aroma are both so soothing.

Leslie, Lilacs are my absolute favorite – and living in Arizona has really been a challenge as I miss them so much! The scent, the beauty – reminds me of my mother’s mother who had a green thumb with almost any growing plant, and brings back great memories of time with my grandparents. Also brings back memories of home, where we tried to plant some lilac bushes from slips from Grandma’s bushes. God is good! And when the time is right, I will enjoy them again. I hope that there are lilacs in the Lord’s heavenly gardens!

It was memorial day and we had no flowers to put on the graves, so daddy and momma cut off all the peonies from the three bushes and took quart jars and tons of water wtih us and we put a quart jar of wataered peonies on each grave and they were BEAUTIFUL..I will never forget it….

I grew up in the country and loved looking at all the flowers that grew out in the fields and along the roadsides. I’ve always been fond of the blue cornflowers that grow as “weeds” all over our part of Kentucky, but I would say that my favorite flowers would have to be daisies and black-eyed Susans. I like them equally and can’t wait to see them start blooming in the spring and summer.

I really don’t think I have a *favorite* flower — I just know I can’t keep any of them alive for very long.
We lived in The Netherlands for 4 years, so I have become partial to the jonquils, daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips. The hyacinths have the most fragrance.

As a child I loved the bachelor buttons that bloomed along our fences in the summer that I made necklaces from. My Mom grew, arranged and judged flowers at the Fair and my Dad was a master gardener who grew vegetables and flowers in our yard so I grew up loving pretty and delicious growing things.

I love all flower’s, but the one that I anticipate the most are Lilacs’. The beautiful scent, along with the abundance of delicate little blooms are like nothing else to me! I look forward to this flower most of all. I wait patiently (just!!), visiting them daily until they are in full bloom. Once they are, I cut many handfuls to bring inside. Lining up several vases on my kitchen counter, I enjoy making arrangement’s with these incredible flower’s and placing them throughout our home. It is an enjoyable way to bring the outside – in for me and to reflect on the truly beautiful and most perfect handiwork of our Heavenly Father. My second favorite are the wonder and beauty of wildflowers.

There are so many beautiful flowers in the world. I love so many, however, there are 2 flowers that have real significant meaning in my memories of growing up. We were immigrants to America and moved to a small Minnesota town. Our little house still brings back wonderful childhood memories to me. But especially the 2 large lilac bushes and the 2 double peonies that were in the front yard. The lilacs had a wonderful smell and my mom would always bring some into the house and the house would smell really wonderful. I now live many states away from there but my yard has lilacs and peonies!

Good Morning! I, too, love all flowers. Whether in a garden, in the field, even a thistle has a beautiful flower. Flowers mean a life renewed for me. My very favorite of all is the Lily of the Valley. The fragrance of the precious little, delicate, pure white blossom reminds me where I lived as a young girl. Thank you for your offer. I look forward to receiving my basket and the autographed copy of your book.

This next one most people consider a weed but I really do love morning glories. They remind me that every day is a new day and a new reason to be alive.
I am an avid reader, often having more than one book at a time going. I would love to win one of your books as Amish stories are my favorite. God Bless you and your talent for writing.

A light blue morning glory is my favorite flower. I remember morning glories growing on the fence around my grandparents’ chicken lot when I was no more than five. Now, each year in August here in NC, my husband and I watch carefully as we drive to and from church to see the morning glory blooms appear on fences and beside crops in the fields. All the colors are beautiful, but that light blue morning glory captures my heart every time.
Best wishes for continued successful books.

Susan: My favorite flowers are Lilacs. My Aunt had a beautiful bush in Caliente, Nevada. Mom brought a cutting home and similarly grew a beautiful bush, it always bloomed better when we had snow-not especially heavy in SE Arizona-so we always piled snow or dumped ice around it.

I love all flowers, but my favorites are strawflowers. They are not the showiest flowers in the garden, but they last forever. My mom and I used to dry them and make arrangements that we could enjoy all year around. For some reason, though, I have not been able to grow them the last few years. I miss the days we used to spend together getting excited over our gardening projects.
