Notes on thankfulness

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
I Chronicles 16:34

For years, I’ve had a sheet of paper covered with notes on thankfulness tucked away in my Bible.

Thankfulness is:

A response to mercy

A pattern of remembering

A connection to praise

The purpose of thankfulness is:

It honors God

It prepares our hearts to be transformed

It helps us accept reality

It produces humility

It produces faith

It brings contentment

How we cultivate thankfulness:

Receive Christ

Worship together

Serve others

Participate in community

Give thanks for everything

I reread my notes every November and then journal out my thanks. That said, I think the appropriate thing to say is Happy Thanksgiving!
