Flashback Friday

peter+boysHubby’s been gone for three weeks of Army/annual training. I pick him up this morning. Three weeks isn’t long compared to other times he’s been gone–but I still keep thinking of his other homecomings. This first photo was taken in 1991 when he came home from Germany where he served during Desert Storm. Our boys were four and ten months at the time.

Peter+kidshomeThis photo was taken just over a year ago, when hubby came home from Afghanistan after serving for a year.

Although I’m thankful for his service, I’m really grateful he’s coming home today. I’m also thankful for our kids, who in their own ways support their dad–and me.

Oh, Leslie! My heart goes out to you! I got a little taste of what you have been through many times when my husband when to Bangladesh last year for a work assignment. He was gone for four weeks, which is nothing compared to what you’ve endured. I highly admire your husband for the work he does for our country and I highly admire you for the supportive role you play in his life. God bless you!

I remember when he was first called up, in 1991. Do you remember talking to me about that, Leslie?
