After the deadline

I met my deadline yesterday so instead of cleaning my desk or my office or my house, I went on a reading jag… Okay, I did do a little bit of cleaning, just to make things sanitary. (The kitchen and bathroom in particular.) And I did run some errands. But mostly I read, pretty much nonstop. Partly because I was post-deadline but mostly because the novel was Lynn Austin’s Wonderland Creek.

It is a delightful, tall tale sort of a story that I practically devoured in one sitting. The only thing that stopped me was when I read, twice, the same line, exactly, that I used in Courting Cate, which releases in the fall. (So glad I finished writing that novel before I read this one.)

You’ll have to read both books to find the line. I’m a little amazed to think I penned the same line as Lynn Austin, hehe, even though it’s a common saying, especially among those who read a lot.

Wasn’t that a great book? And isn’t it funny how that happens? I’ve read a couple of books in the past few weeks that each had elements of my book that is releasing Sept. 1. I mean almost the exact thing! And both different things from each other. Guess there truly is nothing new under the sun.

    Looking forward to Courting Cate!

Yes, there isn’t anything new under the sun. :) Sometimes we just think there is. I’m going to go look for your book, Anne!

I adored this book as well! I read it straight through and couldn’t put it down.

I’ll certainly be reading Courting Cate to spot the line! ;-)

Didn’t you love the many great horse moments in Wonderland Creek! I thought of you as I was reading it.

Glad you made your deadline. Do you get a break now?

No break. I have galleys to do for Courting Cate now. :)
